Happenings

Here are some of the events taking place at Appin and Trinity United Churches:

Nov. 21 - 7 p.m. - Glencoe Christmas Parade starts at the Fair grounds and proceeds along North Street, down Main Street to the Train Station.
Nov. 28 - 6 p.m. - Messy Advent Celebration at Trinity with Food, Fellowship, and Faith. Let's prepare and share a meal, make a craft, and worship together.
Nov. 30 - 9:45 a.m. - Advent Learning Circle at Appin, a time of music and learning about Advent over coffee and muffins.
Nov. 30 - 7 p.m. - Blue Christmas service at VanHeck Funeral Home
Dec. 2 - 12:30 p.m. - Taizé worship service at Trinity, a brief (15 minute) service of music and prayer based on the Taizé style.
Dec. 6 - 11 to 1:00 - Trinity UCW Bake Sale and Lunch, serving Ham and Scalloped Potatoes, etc. for $8.
Dec. 7 - 9;45 and 11:15 - White Gift services. Collecting hats, mitts, and socks at Appin, Angel Tree gifts at Trinity. Special monetary gifts will be collected for a cause to be announced.
Dec. 9 - 12:30 p.m. - second  Taizé worship at Trinity
Dec. 16 - 12:30 p.m. - third  Taizé worship at Trinity
Dec. 19 - Messy Christmas Concert at Appin with a pot luck meal, paper bag pageant, carol sing, and the Jolly Old Elf himself.
Dec. 21 - 9:45 and 11:15 - Communion services
Dec. 23 - 12:30 p.m. - fourth  Taizé worship at Trinity
Dec. 24 - 7:30 p.m. - joint Christmas Eve worship at Trinity. Joint choir performing the cantata "Sing with the Angels"

New Beginnings

The Glencoe-Appin Pastoral Charge is pleased to welcome Cheryl Bolton to minister with us. We are excited about new possibilities under her leadership.

Upcoming dates to remember include:
Oct 5 - celebrating World Wide Communion at both churches
Oct 5 - 'Observance' after worship at Trinity. Share lunch and discussion about the July/August and September issues of Observer cover stories
Oct 19 - Appin Anniversary service at 9:45 a.m. No service at Trinity.
Oct 29 - first Soup and Sandwich Lunch of the season at Trinity
Nov 30 - first Sunday of Advent

Feb. 27 - Trinity UCW Soup and Sandwich Lunch from 11:30 to 1:30
Mar. 1  - World Day of Prayer at Burns Presbyterian Church, Mosa from 9:00 a.m. Special guest speaker is Gerry Adam.
Mar. 1  - Myths, Truths, and Stigma about Mental Health, with Trix VanEgmond, Public Educator with the Canadian Mental Health Association of London Middlesex at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity UC. Refreshments to follow.
Mar. 5  - Trinity UCW regular meeting at 2:00 p.m.
Mar. 21 - Glencoe-Appin Official Board meeting at Trinity at 7:30 p.m.
Mar. 24 - Palm Sunday. Trinity palm procession with St. John's Anglican Church prior to worship.
Mar. 24 - deadline for donations to the Trinity Silent Auction
Mar. 24 - 'Observance' - Share lunch and discussion about the March Observer starting with the cover story
Mar. 27 - Trinity UCW Soup and Sandwich Lunch from 11:30 to 1:30
Mar. 29 - Good Friday interdenominational worship at St. John's Anglican Church at 11:00
Mar. 31 - Easter Sunday communion
Apr. 17 - Trinity Unified Board meets, with related committees meeting prior
Apr. 26 - Trinity C.E. expedition to the Mary Webb Centre in Highgate, concert featuring The Good Lovelies
Apr. 28 - Spring Brunch at Trinity 12:30 to 1:30

Yes! Happy New Year!

We enter 2013 under the worship leadership of Jim and Jane May. We are thankful for their words of wisdom at least for the month of January.

At Trinity

January 16 at 7:45 - Unified Board meeting with related committees meeting prior.
January 18 at 6:30 - Pot luck social. Everyone welcome.
January 19 at 6:30 - We are entering a team in the Lion's Trivia Night.
January 27 at 1:00 - 'Observance' - Share lunch and discussion about the latest issue of The Observer
February 10 after worship and lunch - Annual meeting.
